My take: I suspect Netflix syncs the US music during the JP edit. We know most of the US release is prepped alongside the JP version (episode titles, subs, etc) - It'd be woefully inefficient to go back and manually add royalty-free music to each ep months after the edit is donehttps://twitter.com/totesbdanger/status/1158895910417383424 …

Since they don’t spend the extra time translating credits or anything I can see them editing the music at the same time. I haven’t checked yet, but I’m sure you can confirm: using NordVPN do you get the original Japanese-release music or the American in-house?

While I don't disagree with this statement, I would say that it's not the only reason. In Japan, Fuji TV airs terrace house a month ish behind Netflix JP because of exclusivity. I believe that Fuji TV has to be finished airing the season before it gets released worldwide.
