I like Sonic as "impatient self-aware super fast blue 90's inkblot character who fights robots with momentum and jumping" more than "wholesomely sarcastic narcissistic electric tornado power super sayain melodramatic mutant teenager" to each their own tho
re: the first one you're describing - i don't think anything has ever captured that energy more perfectly than the Sonic Mania opening cutscene
