i think ultimately, sharing works in progress publicly is detrimental for two reasons: 1) it diminishes the impact of the final product 2) it diminishes the drive to finish the product

same. literally why i haven't shown anyone anything from my album. i get complacent when i get praise for it so would rather work meticulously in the background til it's finished

i read once that starting a new diet is 100x more effective if you don't tell anyone you're doing it, bc the praise you get ('aw! good for you!') gives you less motivation to stick with it. kinda feel like that also applies to everything on earth
