The fact that he would rather keep up this inaccurate tweet for the sake of Retweets/Likes instead of retracting it to post a correction, does pretty much prove how important these visible metrics are to people. Sadly more important than honest information and news, it seems.
it's so funny - i literally cannot think of a better case study as to why Twitter might be interested in these changes than this exact thread

Tell me about it... I originally gave Ryan the benefit of the doubt that he misunderstood. But I corrected him within SIX MINUTES of his original tweet. The fact that he continues to ignore that, shows just what a sorry state online news is in. Over 3,000 Retweets for a lie.
