i'm sure it goes without saying that even though i think Detective Pikachu looks like a trainwreck, i will absolutely be there on day 1. i am dying to see that movie

We're seeing such different things. It looks really unique, taking these monsters and making them ridiculous and terrifying. Has a more adult tone and visual style, which is a bold move. Getting sniffs of big HEART too.

If anything can be accused of playing it safe and selling out it's Pokemon. This isn't the movie you make if you're trying to do that. This looks more fresh and exciting than anything I've seen from Pokemon in... forever. Encourage risks, rather than cynicism.
