think about how incredible it would be if Nintendo made a throwbacky 2D Mario and truly committed themselves to the era-specific aesthetic, Mega Man 9 style. they'd hit it out of the park, visually and mechanically. seems like such an easy win
i'm not a Mega Man guy, but the "hardware constraints + modern game design sensibilities" conceit is so good. and Nintendo would pull it off better than anyone! would be the ideal canvas for them to flex their level design talent
