dumb question: can animals of different species successfully reproduce?
-
-
-
Generally, no. The most common understood definition of species is animals that can successfully reproduce. But there are grey, fascinating, areas of species on the edge of incompatibility that can still produce offspring.
-
Which is to say. A monkey and a deer? Hell no. A human and a Neanderthal? Yes.
-
Interesting. Good to know. Thanks, bud!
-
Horse and donkey: yes, but the offspring, a mule, is sterile.
-
Well, I guess not technically sterile, but pregnancy is very, very rare.
