In paper on depression, I'm confused about the difference between "wait-list" and "treatment as usual" http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0041778 … anyone help?
I get wait list. You're not yet in the study. But what's a "treatment as usual" that doesn't involve a depression treatment or placebo?

this is helpful. But the phrase does still feel... vague

Vague but accurate. Treatment doesn't always fall into neat categories, so 'TAU' often has high validity
