There are some scary situations where this might matter. Imagine if a government started to collect blood or spit samples from protestors who got beat up and fled a protest.

But, then, again: think of all the other ways our privacy is compromised. AHEM, Facebook. I'd imagine most of the time it's easier to find people via online and public records, than some roundabout family tree DNA search.

You're scaremongering. And you're not blazing any new ground here. DNA and genealogy interest groups have been discussing privacy issues for some time. Facebook knows more about Americans than DNA tests reveal; a simple Google search likewise.
