I think there is a wider issue here, though, that your article is missing. Apart from Wikipedia, why did apparently everyone in the media miss her significance, as well? Why was she an associate professor, not a full professor? Why no National Academy 1/2
-
Membership, apparently? Why was she apparently not profiled in other media before, including
@voxdotcom? What about major awards other than the Nobel - in particular those that are commonly used as indicators that a Nobel might be next? 2/3 -
A missing Wikipedia page is just one symptom, as far as I can see, and focusing on only that misses the larger picture, I think. Why did Strickland get so comparatively little recognition of her work before now? 3/4

Dumping all of the responsibility on a single Wikipedia editor (you write of "moderators", plural, but that appears to be wrong) seems a bit unfair. With more coverage, linked in the draft, that volunteer editor presumably would have acted differently. 4/4

Here is an article that recognizes and calls out the wider problem, and puts the Wikipedia page problem in context:https://qz.com/1412718/wikipedia-has-a-problem-with-sexism-so-does-the-media/ …

As a Canadian, and a former physics teacher, I am very pleased with her accomplishment; but I hope she gets, finally, the belated recognition she deserves in academia of a full professor ship.
