  18. Only 0.5% of gardens in 's year-round Garden BirdWatch have Red Squirrels visiting. Do you have Reds, or Greys? Could you tell us about the birds, mammals & other wildlife that visits your garden?

  19. Ptarmigan turn white in winter to remain camouflaged and they have other amazing adaptations, too. To protect them against the cold they have feathered feet, nostrils and even eyelids! Their rotund body shape also helps minimise heat loss.

  20. Today's lying snow is the first of the winter in many areas of Scotland. Prolonged cold snaps, like the 2018 'Beast from the East', can hit resident birds hard, sadly. Read more here:
