When do you "operate on a boys genitals to save their life"? Especially an infant boy?

Replying to @MEMESofVIOLENCE @Gregory_Malchuk
Because the infections that affect males can severely damage their immune system, thus threatening their life.

You're talking absolute rubbish. Girls get significantly more infections than boys and we prescribe ANTIBIOTICS not amputation. Oh, and tell me again what's hygienic about putting an open wound in a urine and faeces-filled diaper?

The ad hominem isn’t helping your argument, the other people here who are giving valid points about reasons to keep a foreskin are. Boys get more complex infections, they become chronic, damaged immune system. UTIs aren’t just caused by bacteria. Antibiotics don’t always work.

Uh, they didn't insult you, so no ad hominem is present.

Eh, guess you’re right. But still, telling me I’m talking rubbish when I’m giving a valid opinion on circumcision isn’t helping them change my mind here.

It's not valid, it's an opinion, just like mine; the difference is that I've pointed out nonsurgical intervention is available, as is education on proper cleaning of the glans and prepuce, while you've failed to reference any studies supporting your opinion.

Please, you’ve made so many points that I’ve already answered and I can’t get to everyone. Just read my other replies and you’ll see I cited plenty of sources to back up my argument against a blanket ban. I only really disagree with one guy here.

I agree that in chronic cases of pathological phimosis there may need to be some surgical intervention. Are you in favour of a blanket ban on non-therapeutic infant circumcision?

Neither. I think it should be used only where medically necessary.

Just to be clear. You ARE in favour of a blanket ban on non-therapeutic infant circumcision (i.e. newborn without any medical indication)?

Yep.

Glad to hear it.
