Query: I recall reading about an Afghan or Pashtun tradition: groups of women acting as mediators in conflict — cooking a meal and inviting both sides, demanding they stop fighting, and even trying to shame the men by throwing their chadori at them. Can anyone provide references?

I have heard about such tradition, but a small correction is needed that, they don't throw their chadars on them! they just put their chadars in front of then in order to convince them to stop fighting. It is the peak level of supplication.
