The most successful people I know:
- Always seem tired and stressed out
- 'success' is a weird metric to measure a life's value by
- I'd rather just do enough work to live and then chill out tbh

I'm successful by mistake and it reminds me of that LCD Soundsystem lyric.. "You spent the first five years trying to get with the plan
And the next five years trying to be with your friends again"

yeah that song punched me right in the gut one night when I was super drunk at a GDC party and it changed my life

Big mood. Lots of people I look up to creatively are very open about the downsides to their way of living - to quote one of them, "ambition is a prison, not a walk in the park". Obviously there is merit in aiming high but not being the very best is okay too

I talk a lot about 'unionising against yourself' in creative and 'flexible' jobs. Forcing yourself into consistent hours and forcing yourself to take days off, etc.

I guess I do most of the things in that guys list in some respect and im a tech lead so im moderately successful in my career but reading it just made me feel tired. "success" guys don't realise managing stress and burnout is a huge long term problem with their approach.
