      The device that used to be called “USB Condom” will keep the data lines active on its own circuit and divert power to device to charge.

          Huh, didn't realize it did that. I have one that shorts the D lines, which signals many chargers to allow >500mA draw.

          Downside is that many ISE systems want to talk to a real USB device. Much like PS3 controllers, which won't charge sans actual USB host :/

          Most recently happened on a renovated BA 747-400 LHR→SFO. Same experience on an NZ 787 SYD→AKL not long ago. Seems consistent behavior :(
