@sleevi_ do you need more than a +1? How about "given the SHAppening there is now more reason than ever to move away from SHA1 quickly"

@bascule I think my reply can benefit from more science. And fact-checking. Things you're both good at, according to disreputable sources.

@sleevi_ I can perhaps speak on behalf of @SquareEng. Maybe. It's a weird time for us given... circumstances.

@bascule @SquareEng I don't even think it's about organizational opinions; it seems more about just explaining why SHA-1 is bad. 4real

@sleevi_ @bascule @SquareEng They don't understand why collisions are relevant at the time of issuance, not the time of use, AFAICT.

@BRIAN_____ @sleevi_ err, I'm really confused, because isn't time of issuance where collisions are *most* relevant?

@bascule @BRIAN_____ You aren't confused; that just wasn't as clear to everybody, hence the request to "explain how it works" on the list :)

The context for this tweet is the (new) SHA-1 thread started at https://cabforum.org/pipermail/public/2015-October/006097.html … asking "What's the threat model for SHA-1"
