Expect that you'll forget the "why" and any non-obvious details quickly, and that the person reading the code doesn't know the "how" or "why," and include those details in comments in the code. Prefer describing details in comments instead of in commit messages & review comments.

For example, if somebody asks you a question about the code in a code review comment, it's tempting to answer the question in you rown code review comment. But, it's better to refactor the code and/or add comments to the code and write "the commit I just added clarifies that."
