TIL Base 85 encoding is used in PDF, in Git binary patch files, and ZeroMQ. These encodings have an efficiency of 0.8 bytes / character, compared to 0.75 for Base64, 0.732 for Base58, 0.625 for Base32, and 0.5 for hexadecimal.
