What I've always wanted is a screenshot that takes over the camera and takes 6 (or more) screenshots in quick succession to make a cubemap or at least a panorama.

It's actually an option in OpenVR: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/openvr/blob/master/headers/openvr.h#L1715 … It requires support from the application though: I tried Unity, Unreal and Source 2 titles, none gave me a cubemap. Instead I discovered that it's possible to grab a screenshot and change render scale too quickly
