Coleman's case has set the precedent: using a young political figure's childhood against them is now ok, even good. This won't stop with him just because his actions as 14-year-old were particularly vile. They nearly drove Morse out over consensual sex.https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/23/us/politics/alex-morse-massachusetts.html?referringSource=articleShare …

It won't matter it was "only" 5 years since Coleman had done what he did at 14. For some future 25-year-old, it'll "only" be 10 years since whatever disqualifying thing they did at 15 years. Maybe it'll be "only" 8 years since something at 18 - the boundaries are fluid.

How much growing do you think he’s done in the last 5 years?

To call what he did "stupid" is a euphemism. Youth does not absolve. Many survive youth without hurting others. Gotta love today's media for exposing criminals.

Exact same reasoning we've been fighting against for decades to oppose incarceration of children and the demonisation of ex-convicts. Those salivating online over throwing the 1st stone might at least learn about his traumatic upbringing:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymeW9iyfIHA …

If it were a genuine apology it would be one thing, but he copied someone else’s lame justification from his Facebook page, in addition a recent girlfriend said that he was the most manipulative person she’d ever met & was still processing. Just drop it. He’s bad news. U R 2.
-
No, it would not. If he’d plagiarized a better apology and hadn’t gotten caught that would not make him fit for the power he seeks. A two decade history of working to help women and girls would show he had changed. Parroting the right words would not.
