never forget that the entire reason the korean peninsula is split in two is b/c the US military forcefully dissolved the provisional korean gov't after WW2 which the Koreans themselves had formed b/c it was "full of communists"

the US then violently suppressed all dissent in the south (they couldn't exactly do so in the north b/c the USSR's aid + the popularity of socialism), and forced the south to adopt a gov't of the US's design. the ROK is occupied US territory
