    Go ! I really like these ' chops' in the collection. Chop paper: printed leaflets put in bales of raw silk by Chinese merchants in the second half of the 19th century. They describe different brands and silk quality levels. Pretty designs!

    On 21 July 1842 the British captured Zhenjiang in the . As a result the battle the Daoguang Emperor sued for peace and agreed to sign the Treaty of Nanking. Governor Hai Ling took his own life!
