In light of these recent diversity reports and taking a long hard look at my list and where I fit in the publishing industry, I've decided I will be indefinitely closed to general submissions except for projects by BIPOC creators. #QueryStatus

The reason why I am specifying BIPOC creators is not because I think other marginalized identities such as white LGBTQ+, or white neurodiversity, etc aren't important, but because at this point in time I feel that BIPOC have the most inequality in Publishing.pic.twitter.com/xbPsZdBg6n

Intersectionality is also super important so I absolutely welcome works from BIPOC who are queer, who are neurodiverse, who are body diverse, who are disabled, etc...

I want to be selective about who I'm making time for and who I'm uplifting. I've made mistakes. I've been part of a broken system. I need to be more conscious about my actions, in addition to providing mentorships and monetary contributions to key organizations.

BIPOC creators who are interested in working together, my usual query manager page will have a message with this link in case this tweet gets lost, but here it is directly: https://querymanager.com/query/thaole/BIPOC … Thank you in advance and I am honored you would want to share your work with me.

To the writers out there who had hoped to query me, but now can't because of this specification, I invite you to reach out to the many other agents out there. There are numerous resources and available options for you. Thank you for understanding.

To be honest, I'm nervous. As we see in the
#PublishingPaidMe posts, this could mean until there's a systematic change, I'm going to have a lot of FOMO, especially as someone who earns a living on commission only. But this is important to me.6 replies 0 retweets 138 likesShow this thread -
One more thing, I really don't want to be thanked or praised for this at all. I'm still feeling inadequate about how much more I could have done over the years and how I could be doing better.
