  2. Lena Richard was a remarkable chef, entrepreneur and teacher, as this remembrance shows. She passed away suddenly in 1950, at the age of 58.

  3. Richard's wrote about her driving purpose: "to teach men and women the art of food preparation and serving in order that they would become capable of preparing and serving food for any occasion and also that they might be in a position to demand higher wages."

  4. In 1939, Lena Richard published her "New Orleans Cook Book". Richard was already a renowned chef when she started a cooking school in 1937, and in 1947 became one of the first TV chefs as well as one of the first Black women to appear on New Orleans TV.

Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas was her ninth book, published in 1994. It was the 2nd full-length book of the Gamblers of Craven's series, bringing Derek Craven himself to the fore. Our copy is the December 1994 printing, which lacks the original step-back (boo!)

Sarah Holland was younger when she was first published, but she's also about 3 years older than Kleypas, so in 1987 Kleypas was younger. I can't think of anyone else in that period who was particularly young when they were 1st published.

  10. One thing we're not entirely certain of, and maybe Romancelandia can help, is this claim in an RT article from 1987 that at 22, Kleypas was the youngest published romance writer (at the time).

  14. Reviewed in the May 1994 Romantic Times, the book earned a 4 out of 5, with praise for its "three-dimensional characters and a plot that will keep you entertained from beginning to end."

  19. Genesis Press was the last company to republish Entwined Destinies, in 1994. Though it is not well-known by most of today’s romance readers, the book represents an important moment in romance publishing that should not be soon forgotten.
