Liked The Hobbit. But Middle Earth felt less magical this time. And why didn't the giant eagles just fly them to the Lonely Mountain?

@BFree63 it's like in LOTR when they leave it till after the ring has been destroyed to show how easily they could have flown to Mount Doom.
@SiUttley Yep. Same thing. But for some reason the eagle shortcut (or denial thereof) bugged me more in The Hobbit.
