Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, Sergio Leone, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Orson Welles, Akira Kurosawa, Steven Spielberg movies for example. If you will watch those movies and learn how they were created, you will have an understanding of why they are great.

3 Indiana Jones movies, Jurassic Park. Very awesome example of awesome classic entertainment movies. For history from his filmography I also recommending Schindler's list and Lincoln.
