Five women have died during a fire at an escape room (an adventure game in which players are trapped in a room and must solve puzzles to get out). Early information indicates the victims were there as part of a birthday party

"Cannibal Holocaust" has a nice ring to it as well if we reduce words to phonetics.

Liberal 'diversity' yet again quickly exposing itself as mere consumerism whereby ancient and profound cultures are reduced to products casually tossed into the same shopping trolly. The real message: cultures don't matter, the global economy matters.

Just as middle aged, middle class male readers romanticized their affairs through the medium of Updike, mid-thirties, middle class female readers romanticize their heartbreaks through the medium of Roupenian. But at least Updike could turn a phrase.

Imagine thinking decline in marriage for low status men is entirely about male preferences and that straight women are indifferent to the performance of masculinity.

Aaron Bastani's thesis might be bad scholarship but humourlessly analysing one facet of his work is far less effective than laughing at everything he says and does.

This story has everything. A Romanian bouncer was killed outside a debauced Mayfair sex party for the super-rich run by a disgraced faux-aristocrat swindler. The son of hook-handed Islamist preacher Abu Hamza has been arrested on suspicion of his murder.

Complaining about things is often very wise, and the left's talents at organised and targeted complaining has taken them far.

The Russian invasion had nothing to do with terrorism (it helped incubate the ideology and leadership of modern terrorist groups) and was one of the most vicious occupations of the 20th century. Over one million people died, Afghanistan was destroyed and has not recovered since.

I have little doubt that shame was driven far too fiercely into children like Dame Mantel's heads but it is striking how this language almost demands that Mary be obedient to us. Benign. On our side. Unquestioning. Non-judgemental.
