3/3 It’s a lot to ask of any candidate that they take on corruption, cynicism, and rot in the government. It’s asking even more of a candidate to take on those same maladies in the electorate itself. Maybe nobody can do that. Maybe Sanders can.

2/ But I think Sanders is better for the job that needs doing: picking up the broken Democratic Party and reassembling it into a viable coalition, making space for great people to step into all those other roles.

1/ The day before the Iowa caucuses, I think I finally understand my feelings about Warren and Sanders. If I were voting for one person to fill every role — cabinet, courts, legislature — I would choose Warren. I think she’d do any of those jobs well.

Act 1. Scene 1. Curtain rises. GOP seen in silhouette literally setting fire to the stage. Lights come on. GOP center stage, wringing hands. Smoke alarms likely going off. GOP: Of course we'd like to do the right thing, but that would pour gasoline on cultural fires.

Sometimes I think to myself for every person who thinks the Democratic senators have it right, there's a person who thinks the Republican senators have it right. Then I remember the relative populations of blue and red states, and I recall how far that is from being true.

My point is that we are playing with fire in the regular course of doing business, and that means we are at elevated risk of setting an intentional or accidental blaze. One can only hope it also means we might be better prepared for one.

What if we find evidence suggesting that nCoV2019 was created by humans in a laboratory? In which case, we might then have to guess if it was released intentionally or by accident. Are we ready to confront that situation? Because the US, China, and others do research bioweapons.

An ISA payment obligation can be a manageable percentage of income but correspond to a usurious capital cost. A loan payment can be a calculated from a manageable interest rate but correspond to a burdensome percentage of income. An ISA with an APR cap solves this problem.
