An "urgent review" of the 10pm curfew needed, says Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, adding that "my gut feeling is that this curfew is doing more harm than good as it creates an incentive to gather in the streets or at home" #R4Todayhttps://bbc.in/30enyqM

        Can’t people just be responsible?

the 10pm curfew was NOT based on SAGE advice in the first place. #r4today reported that last week when they interviewed a SAGE scientist. Purely political and now viewed as poss doing more damage as people leave pubs en masse.

Interesting because papers indicated that Boris was all set to shut the pubs as the scientists told him he must, but that Sunak wouldn't let him. Could it be that we've now lost valuable time and fallen behind the virus again by not taking the most difficult decisions. @IainDale

Sadly, as many of us predicted the moment it was announced. It was like ringing a bell to all move together at once.

Boris will review it to full closure for the plebs whilst they carry on drinking at Westminster.

Not if you are sensible, take full responsibility, accountability & follow the guidelines. We can all still go out for an enjoyable evening and be home for 10.30pm. I am far more concerned for those businesses locally, fully closed. We need to get those open & quickly.

But the people on Bolton suffer for another day with no hospitality open.

@AndyBurnhamGM Yes! Not just gathering - also the increasing stress it is causing hospitality industry Sadly hygiene mistakes will inevitably happen as staff do their best to cope A slower & staggered curfew would be better Enforced by police & supported by environment health

It was never based on any scientific evidence and clearly no risk assessment was done. Great shout from Andy as he can clearly see it was the wrong move from government.

Not sure it needs to be scientific. It’s about allowing some business to be open in a controlled manor. It’s not really scientific to realise the more pissed people get the more they act like tits. Of course Andy Burnham blames the government for folks to then carry on at home.
