They dedicated their last 3 albums, Her, Tear and Answer spreading the message to love oneself
They’ve also been writing and making music from the persoective of the youth and the struggles they face in society
@BTS_twt doesn’t represent kpop, they represent youth & the futurepic.twitter.com/nAr4Ixm2O9

Exactly. I was just going to say this. Why is everyone labelling them as a K-Pop group or the first ever K-Pop group?! They are artists and perhaps the youngest artist in the entire wide world to give that speech. (I'm sorry, I'm ignorant of history but my Google search didn't
-
May I ask why some of army seem don’t satisfy when BTS is being called K-pop band? K is stands for Korean, right? And kpop is actually where they started all of this, isn’t it? As I know Kpop is not only music but also a culture of music which is pretty unique. So why is not kpop?
-
Please don't take it the other way, I'm not embarrassed of liking K-Pop nor embarrassed of them being called a K-Pop band. Ofc they are that but they are so much more. Now, they represent not just Korea but also the youth, so it is only fair to acknowledge them like that.
-
And we shouldn't just reduce them to some K-Pop boy band. They are BTS, a group of individuals who give us hope sometimes with their music sometimes with words. So many of my friends don't like KPop but they like BTS (bc honestly, K-pop is not = BTS, it has a lot of other groups)
-
Yes true. I don't like kpop. I just like BTS so I'm a fan of BTS-POP

Better than the Beatles
-
Really! You're saying a band that wrote their work played all their instruments are better than a manufactured pretty boy band!
-
BTS write, compose and produce their own music too. Min Yoongi aka Suga, plays piano and is apart of a Korean Copyright Association. Maybe research before judging.
-
I'm a nobody but I think what he meant by 'pretty boys' is that at least The Beatles didn't get their hair, eyebrows, nails, skin, etc overly done. Including make-up such as bb cream (i.e. foundation), eyeliner and lipstick. So it's pure musical talent, no vanity included.
-
BTS aren't about that either, plus many great artists like, Micheal Jackson, Prince and David Bowie wore makeup and no one discredited them when they spoke up about important causes like equality and racism. Ya'll dumbing BTS down to nothing but 'pretty boys' when they've always-
-
been about creating music that speaks to people, they talk as bout school bullying, suicide, mental health, government corruption and rifts between the older generation and younger generation. They aren't just teen fodder or a 'in the moment' group, they're music has saved people
-
So if they had been a bunch of fat guys with beards and sang about what your on about you would still idolise them? I very much doubt it

Repectfully, this has NOTHING to do w/ "Kpop" which is an industry, NOT a genre.
@BTS_twt have earned the right to be recognised as Korean Artists who have touched many ppl around the world thru their music, lyrics & msgs. BTS' msgs, NOT "Kpop's" msg. They're a band, from Korea. -
Why is that western Artists are allowed individuality but when they're not all other artists have to be labeled into another box. BTS is hugely popular & they are a band from Korea, not complex. Also, their success is NOT due to a "Kpop wave", who else do u see charting?

Very well said, I am not a fan or listen to this music, but many American artists can learn from this. Very inspirational and real, wish them much more success and hope they continue promoting their message.
-
Thank you for being open-minded and for giving a kind response!
