Are the Japanese people not able to distinguish between their own culture and other cultures? The idea seems laughable to me that they could not.

No-one is going to take a lecture on culture from an American, fyi. Unless it's on how to do racism well.

The irony of saying something racist to imply other people are racist. My guy.

I can see the point you're trying to make, but "American" isn't a race, it's a nationality.

But if these players are coming from different countries for a noble goal that is the tournament. Why is Japan then infringing on their rights

'their rights'. Behave. It's their culture, their house, their rules. I was more than happy to cover mine for the three weeks I was there. This is not a big deal.

It was a mistake to award them the rights to host. Just like Qatar and the Football World Cup. The Maori and other Polynesian tribes have tattoos and not for frivolous reasons. Next a host nation will disallow the Hakka display 🙄

They r super imposing their dogma on these athletes. It's a contact game and I bet the ratios will show. Non of these players are even part of that yakuza.

What's laughable is that they say it's for their public baths and saunas. 🙄 The same ones that ban gaijin? Since when do big black and white guys join Yakuzas? These people are tiresome. Why host if you can't accommodate? 🤔

If I was a player and told to cover up my tats, I would reply with the single finger salute to World Rugby bosses...tats are important, stuff the locals..why did Japan bid?

Even some Japanese -include me don't understand why we have to cover up the tattoos in Japan. What's the problem? Japan should be more flexible in this modern society right.

Yes, it’s sad that Japan is still so little in regards of freedom of expression. Being different in this society is a taboo. That’s why the economy is shrinking and other open-minded Asian nations are getting big foreign investments.

Well, it's not hard to understand. I feel most people consider tattoo is a kind of bad sign like bully, gang or not well-educated

Saying that is ok for a person to deny equal treatment to a tattooed person because many of them look uneducated or else is the same as saying that all black people look suspect and because of that is fine to shoot them just in case.

Tell the japs to calm down and eat some squid, they wouldn’t think it’s threatening or gang related when someone turns up with an adventure time theme sleeve

Glad you're telling them what they're allowed to think when you're casually using a racial slur from WW2. One of the worst way you can refer to the Japanese. Tats slowly becoming more acceptable as some public bath houses started allowing tattooed individuals a few years back.
