In Cuenca, Ecuador (which has very little crime) all taxis have two interior cameras which are connected directly to the police.

Am I missing something here? If Uber 'reporting crimes directly to the police' is news then what was their previous stance? 'Not reporting crimes directly to the police' presumably?

Surely stopping the crimes and vetting staff properly is of higher importance ?

Surely they’re not actually crimes at point of report to police? Incident may be ghastly but up to court to decide, not Uber (or BBC!)

Uber reported 'incidences' reputationally non damaging eg doc fraud but not violent/sex nature/picking & choosing. Some crimes could have been prosecuted but by the time U reported to TfL to Police time limit exceeded. Data Protect Act used to thwart Police.
