or maybe they could just choose to work in the warehouse instead or is that not the equality they want?

That is a ridiculous lawsuit. It’s not the same job. I hope Tesco make the decision to reduce the warehouse staff pay, they all quit and the women can get out there and do a job that’s a damn lot harder than sitting on your arse scanning groceries

Worked In check outs and the warehouse. Warehouse is harder work and you deserve more money. Has nothing to do with gender. Apply for the warehouse instead of sitting on your bums at the tills. Deluded

This particular case has absolutely nothing to do with the gender pay gap. Why the hyperlinks in the article,
@BBCNews? -
What percentage of applicants for warehouse roles are female?

Didn't Asda already lose a court case on this exact issues? A similar piece of idiocy practically bankrupted Birmingham City Council.

That was indeed the case. It was not a gender based division however, which is how it was played.

Do the men who work in stores get paid the same as the women? And do the women who work in the warehouses get paid the same as the women?

No different to pushing for equal pay between a shop worker and shop manager? Or am I missing something? UK businesses are being destroyed from within due to effects of labour rates

"The most common rate for women is £8 an hour whereas for men the hourly rate can be as high as £11 an hour" The only figures mentioned don't even say it's unequal. This is also warehouse vs in-store. They're different job roles so of course they'll pay different.
-
Say I earn £10 an hour but someone else in the company on a different team entirely earns £13 an hour for a job that involves different day-to-day tasks - when the work they do isn't even the same, why is that something to complain about?
-
There may be overlap with instore vs warehouse roles (stocking warehouse vs stocking shelves), but they are still two different jobs, and the people (men or women) earning more instore or in warehouse roles probably deserve the extra. £8 average vs £11 max is not a comparison.
-
I'm all for people being paid equally for the what they do but we need to remember, people should be paid equal FOR THE SAME WORK. This article is like the one not too long ago where they compared air hostess pay to pilots and they were very different - of course they are.

Not gonna lie I’m only young but how is it just because some men are getting paid more it’s instantly a pay gap....
as far as I’m aware if someone applies for a job and has more qualifications than someone else they should be paid more and if that’s the ade with the men then... -
women statistically achieve higher in education at every stage and also the gender pay gap is about people doing the same job and getting paid differently not people doing a different job and getting paid differently
-
Both false. You're grossly overconfident about being misinformed.
