What difference does it make that she is an Olympic champion? Suddenly it matters? I suspect this happens every day on UK trains

It always matters, of course. She's using her popularity to raise the issue. Being heard is hard, especially for people with disabilities.

I just hate how things only become an issue when it happens to a celebrity. Disabled people who aren’t famous suffer with this every day and I suspect the journalist who wrote this article has seen it happen before and not said anything but now it’s someone famous it’s written

Fame = publicity = good.

Are we supposed to be shocked? Trains get full. Especially at this time of year. I guess she hadn’t reserved a space? This implies some sort of prejudice going on. Let’s hear ALL the facts.

The disabled are regularly treated badly on public transport with seating availabllity, or should that be lack of availability.

How is this even news? I've lost count of the times I couldn't get on a train or a tube. That's life.

All public transport is full around this time of year. She can't expect people already on the train to just off for her because she's disabled and famous. Should have checked beforehand and booked a space. Common sense really!

I really do think it is a disgrace, the way she has been treated, but I have come across Tanni Grey-thompson before and she can be quite rude in these crowded situations. It's almost " don't you know who I am". Funny how none of the other patrons did not try to help her.

I thought the disabled wanted to be treated like everyone else? Oh apart from when you don’t book a seat or arrive early for the train and wait like everyone else!
