Half shut down at some point between 8am and 6.30pm. Yes, they need to eat. Those lunch breaks are also likely to be short.

Even if they're not scheduled to be short, appointments overrun and frequently make them short. They also need time to meet occasionally.

To discuss cases with colleagues, management of the practice etc. This medic-shaming from the Mail is typical, and disgraceful.
-
After all, when was the last time the Mail did a single damned thing that benefitted humanity in even the most pathetically minor way?
-
Dammit, I do have an answer to that: their championing of the Stephen Lawrence case. It pains me to say it.
-
Whoa. Good point. OK. Any advance on one?

Just because we are closed, doesn't mean we aren't working. I haven't eaten lunch at work for several weeks. Home visits, bloods, letters

GPs need time to fill in paperwork, view test results, contact consultants, do home visits etc. Not everything is a revolving surgery door

6 minute appointments? Not a chance. Appointments overrun into those lunch breaks more often than not.
-
An apparently long break ensures that afternoon surgery starts at the right time. GPs also have to do home visits at some point in the day.

if GPS and the rest of the NHS weren't so constantly fucked over by the tories this wouldn't be an issue lmao

Again, I wouldn't necessarily call them lunch breaks. GPs can't just solidly do appointments all day - there's letters, test results etc.
-
If there are multiple GPs in the practice, then staggering their breaks so appointments are available the whole day is probably a good idea.
