Absolutely staggering. Some of the most thought provoking conversations I had with friends were after a lesson finished on the way to the next when we would spark thoughts and ideas off each other.

Lessons should be a launchpad for learning and critical thinking not the total sum of it. Supressing conversation will simply raise levels of resentment

Lmao what a dire place this sounds like. Glad I went to a normal school and not a fucking graveyard.

That's ridiculous. I think the adults in the building should be forced to not speak

All school is already jail for kids. Open jail yes, they are allowed home at night, but they have to report or action is taken.

Utter nonsense. I've always thought that school should be more focused on preparing young people for work life. Strict on behaviour yes but banning speaking? While we are on the subject, lets ban the nonsense of girls being made to wear a tie and unreasonable homework.

Poor idea... No running no shouting and don't be daft fair enough but silence? Bit extreme

I never got the "no running", I thought they wanted kids to get exercise.

What, precisely, does this aim to teach? Are the students preparing for a vocation in a religious order?

Appalling, but very easily overturned by all the kids, acting in unity to continue sensible conversations. Then providing a note from parents giving permission to do so and denying the school the authority to place child in detention.

Well done, there was so much to learn from the Victorian prison system, can I suggest picking oakum to replace any subjects the students appear to enjoy too much.pic.twitter.com/i3ytuwOk8o

When I was in school we moved silently around corridors, ate our food and drank our milk in silence and raised our caps to staff. I didn't go to public school just a good old fashioned state school.
