Permission to return to the 1980s please, I'm totally fed up living in this era. It's totally a bag of wind.
-
60s era would be better, you could go on a trip without transport. Peace to all.

So everyone needs to get a brand new electric car then? What about your 17 year old buying that £500 banger for a first car? Your average working man who can only afford a 2nd hand car? And then there's the money they'll lose on the tax from petrol and diesel. Great idea...

That's all very well but we have a Govt against Green Energy and cutting Green Subsidies so you end up with one working against the other

Someone should point out that actually building 'new' cars has more of a negative effect on carbon emmissions than driving 'old' cars will ever do. The planet would be better off if we all stopped buying new cars every 3-5 years....

When an electric vehicle can get me to work and back often a 300 mile round trip without having to search out charging infrastructure I’ll consider EV. And ....where’s all the electricity coming from to power them? Lots to do before making such bold claims.

I gotta see the brilliant plan for how we are to produce enough electricity to charge these motors. The grid only just about copes when people put kettles on in the break of Corrie.

Morons, we do not have the power generating capacity for an all electric country. Vested interests?

Seems like a licence to rip of car drivers in future electric cars won't work it's not as easy to recharge as filling up with diesel or petrol. You'll have to wait between 4 to 12 hours not practical is it hybrids are only alternative we will always need diesel vehicles.

Exactly....snow and cold temperatures would be interesting...
-
Thank you for your concern but my Renault Zoe works okay in the snow and cold. The bulk of the weight is the batteries in its base so I could drive on more challenging icy roads a lot better than most cars. Happy to take any further questions.

To be clear. There will be carnage for automakers until they get economy of scale with fuel cells. Watch Toyota and Hyundai pave the way on this.
-
The energy used to create those fuel cells is currently extreme.. Why not just charge a battery while you sleep or are at work?
-
Because their might not be no wind nor sun? Because I can’t charge where I live? Because the minerals are limited and from war torn regions and also have big environmental impact?
-
Seems to be plenty of off coast wind going round at the moment.. We actually waste quite a lot of it. EVs often come with free home chargers. A tiny amount of the battery is raw minerals... and also again war torn and environmental impact? Have a look at oil
. -
you must look at world scale. and in case you missed, its not always windy. oil is dead. back to the drawing board.
-
When it's not windy it's often sunny. If it comes down to it.. Then nuclear is technically classed as renewable these days and you're building another power station with that anyway..
