1) The box is not important, what comes inside it is. 2) Most Finnish babies (mine included) sleep their first weeks or months home in the Baby Box, and none of the "safety doubts" have actualized. When the sample is nation wide, the results are rather conclusive

When I was born my first cot was the bottom drawer of my parents wardrobe. I survived I am now a great grandfather. The baby pictured should be further down the box to avoid suffocation.
