Great British project suffering the Great British Disease, lack of investment!

Why would you need a 1000 mph. vehicle???
-
To encourage and inspire tens of thousands of children to get interested in STEM subjects. Pretty good way if you ask me and it's already been a huge success.
-
And to keep those kids interested it needs to be delivered......No one 'needs' a 1000mph land vehicle, but they do need the technological capability to design, develop, build and demonstrate one successfully!
-
Even if the car never runs at high speed, the project has been a huge success, engaging 60,000 students every year.
-
I appreciate the positive view, but nothing succeeds like success! The projects you highlight on your CV are the ones you can claim success for!
-
Amd they've succeeded in visiting thousands of schools, so job done. (But I get your point and I'm pretty sure the car will run, there's been too much time and work put into it)

Amazing that the world has millions upon millions for stuff like this while the homeless remain homeless & the poor, poor!
-
So we should abandon all innovative projects then?
-
Your priority in this world is making a vehicle go 1000mph? Sit down!
-
No the priority is to inspire tens of thousands of children to pursue STEM subjects, which the project has done an incredible job at. Seems a pretty good reason to me.

No surprise there I couldn't use one there's a 30 mile an hour limit in my street, and the price of petrol would also be a put off.

Jeez, if we were led by some of the people who've tweeted here we'd still be living in mud huts. No-one needs a 1000mph car but the point is to challenge our engineering knowledge and at the same time get kids interested in STEM. It's all about pushing boundaries and advancing.

Another pointless exercise needs money.
-
Except it's far from pointless, it's a huge education project for the people who will create, design and build the world of tomorrow.

RE: "There are just weeks to save the venture"--Why would anyone want to? Who needs a 1,000 mph car? Jeanine Pirro? Last I heard, if you topped out a Bugatti Veyron, the tires would be due for a change in about 60 miles. Tires were also a problem on Concorde doing 250 on takeoff.

Bloodhound doesn't use tyres. Wheels are forged aluminium with no tyres.http://www.bloodhoundssc.com/project/car/wheels …
