I feel like the title of this story should be more along the lines of "Children mortality rates are set to rise due to poverty/obesity" because that's what it actually focuses on

Who would weigh them? Schools? Doctors? The problem lies with bad parenting. Those who Can’t be bothered to cook a meal then order a takeaway. Make childhood obesity child abuse and watch it gradually get better.

So 18yr olds are now classed as children so that’s no voting not allowed alcohol can’t drive cars ,but on the plus side cheap bus fares cheap cinema tickets and your girl friend gets to change your ass .what is the world coming to .A JOKE.
-
Legally in England you're a child til 18. That's the joke. As a "child" you can legally have sex.

In the 50’s regular height, weight, dental checks all took place in all primary schools.

Absolutely not, I was told I was nearly overweight while doing sports 6 times a week and eating very healthily while I was growing up. Wildly inaccurate I couldn’t imagine what it’d do to people’s self esteem to constantly be weight checked

My daughter was weighed regularly at school as she was "underweight". She had so much pressure put on her that she would force herself to eat to the point she would vomit. Paediatrician confirmed there was no problem but the school nurse insisted on weighing her.
-
When we tried to stop the appointments we were reported to Social services who also confirmed she was fine. She's now a perfectly healthy slim Mum to 3 boys. So much unneccesary stress by one "nurse" who thought she knew best. Educate parents not bully kids.

Do the parents get fined or sent to prison if they’re overweight?

If NHS dietary guidelines were corrected, people wouldn't be sent down the wrong path. Many of these people follow current guidelines faithfully and are then blamed for failing. Rise in obesity coincides with rise in incorrect advice, so focus on better advice, not blame.

Used to be a time when parents would look after their children's' needs.
