Kind of oversteps the mark for a government to tell people what they should and shouldn't eat...

Like when they recommend "5 a day" or reduced salt or other dietary advice that has been recommended by the NHS for years and years?

No. What’s too hot for politicians is that they’re being asked to comment on data and show leadership on something which they know will be unpopular.

Too many vested interests for politicians to make decisions for the long term benefit of the planet rather than the short term benefit of their career.

Climate change is not going to be halted by misanthropically telling British people to live on vegetables and seeds, while letting China build a new coal fired power station each week.

Are we biologically evolving from omnivores into herbivores ... or is it time to recognize the planet if finite and maybe we need an agreed population target? #controversial

The U.S. throws away enough food daily to feed the entire planet twice a day for three days. Herbivores are not sustainable. We are not evolving that way. The planet, controlled properly, can easily sustain 10 billion. Stop.
