Why not return to £1.00 note as well. Lighter than coinage.

Great! (not). MORE plastic in my purse.....these £5/£10 are an absolute pain. Stick together when flat, ping out of wallets n purses n tills after being folded. There was/is nothing wrong with paper versions.

My supermarket/fuel station does. A lot of places do have signs warning they dont.

In theory they shouldn't refuse them because they are legal tender but there are places that refuse them because they don't believe they are real.

Hi Jo. When we take any note, they are checked, by the uv light, a pen, our hands and eyes and a second set of eyes. We dont see many, say 3 a week ish. Mainly delivery drivers who dont use a fuel payment card

I had one refused at Primark because she could tear the metallic strip. Went back to bank I got it from and they confirmed it was real by UV light.

Really? I'd have put my stuff back or told them politely to keep the goods for embarrassing me. As i work in retail i try to be polite but firm in those situs.

Good, much easier to carry around £1,000 in my wallet with £50 notes than loads of £20 and £10 notes.

They're rarely used because a lot of shops won't take them. Been that way for well over a decade as when I used to work in pubs, we stopped taking them. Worked in retail up until a couple of years ago, and they weren't accepted then, even in large transactions.

Send me a new one & a current one and I will be able to confirm the changes for you. Then I'll try them both in the local shops to see which they will accept. Deal?
