Ridiculous question. Big business pours millions of £ into promoting unhealthy lifestyles, but we object to government intervening at scale. Objecting to healthy policies let's big business continue to poison our lives
-
Totally agree with this; but there is an argument against punishing individuals for unhealthy behaviour i.e. illegal drug use where the policy aimed at reducing use ultimately causes more harm...
-
But that’s not what this article is about. It’s about trying to undermine the notion that people should be protected from the food and tobacco industry in the name of individual ‘choice’. As Beth says it’s a nonsense agreement
-
Agree, my belief is that policy should target the industries and disparities that influence poor health choices and not make the mistake of punishing the individuals.
-
I honestly wonder why the BBC publishes nonsense like this? The idea that we live in a nanny state when the food and industry lobby are so powerful is at best profoundly silly but at worst a dangerous way of protecting capitalist interests at the expense people’s health

We are living in an American sue for compo for anything culture. So consequently government/councils/companies/shops etc are all
scared in case someone trips over a matchstick and sues!! And we have obviously lost the ability to do things without instructions from government.pic.twitter.com/u9WU4xY5ATThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Do you, as the state broadcaster of all things propaganda need to really ask that question. To put it simply, yes. And it's becoming worse each and every day, with no prospects of getting better. Freedom is all but lost in the UK now, the bubble WILL eventually burst though

So long as the state facilitates healthcare, it will have the same jurisdiction over what we eat. If you want to eat anything you please, you'll need the same freedom and responsibility to choose who to insure your body with.

Good point ...my body is uninsurable lol
