Yes they are, as are people who know they have allergies buying their food at these kind of places.

Victim blaming is not cool. Where do you suggest people with allergies buy their food?
-
Prepare the food yourself.
-
A) that takes time I don't always have, B) if I'm out with friends I may quickly need a bite to eat, C) and when I buy the ingredients I have to trust in the store. By your logic I should farm all the food I eat, myself.
-
Why don't you have the time??

I know this is a serious issue, but I really hope that it is not going to lead to another spate of "me too" style band-wagoning
-
I hope it does. I hope more people come out and point out the failings of the food industry in being careful with, well, food. And in no way has
#MeToo
been about "band-wagoning", it's more women being brave enough to come forward. Get out of the 1950s.

Eat fruit if you’re “hungry” and have allergies. Or bake your own meal, imagine.
-
I dont blindly walk into the road and blame drivers for not braking in time if they hit me.
-
I imagine if you walked out at a clearly demarcated pedestrian crossing when the little man turned green and the cars ploughed ahead regardless, though, you might feel you had some cause to seek redress.
-
No. At a crossing even on a green man you are still responsible for yourself. Its still common sense to look both ways. Didnt you watch the green cross code adverts?
-
If faulty traffic lights were responsible for the cars plowing ahead (as implied by ‘cars’ plural in my scenario) then no, you would not be considered at fault, and the council in question would likely be liable for any injuries you suffered.

Obviously, the family are aware of their allergies and manage their food by risk assessment. If a food is not fully described and says so the risk is too high. Paves the way for more Big Business bashing and compensation claim perhaps?
-
Poor little big business. Thank God you're there to stand up for the big guy!

I’m a thrifty person and only buy food to prepare at home. If had food allergy’s especially if my life was at risk, no way would risk buying food already prepared. It seems so easy thing not to do.
-
People here seem to think we all have the time to prepare food. People also seem to conveniently forget the fact that they can go to the shop down the road if they need an urgent meal. I shouldn't have to plan out every meal all the time.

People with such dramatic alergies need to learn to make sandwiches at home.
