Hey, great, just keep letting in unchecked immigrants in to the UK & all of Europe as well, so they will spread this around, so it will result in a pandemic. Isn't 'multiculturalism' wonderful???

Monkey pox, is something else for an already over stretched NHS to deal with. Where ever it originates from are their travel restrictions....just asking !

Perhaps we were prematurely rejoicing that Smallpox has been eradicated in the world, this looks like the same strain, travelling freely and often around the world does have consequences

There was a story about 18 months ago or so that permafrost melting in Siberia is exposing corpses that died of Smallpox and pose a negligible yet possible risk of bringing back the beast as it were. :-/

I haven't heard that ,if true it is quite alarming. Long ago I worked as a health visitor in India and worked in an epidemic of that disease it is horrendous and spreads very quickly,I do hope it doesn't ever come back

Rest assured monkeypox is not smallpox and is definitely not the same strain of virus.

@BBCnews and the @Telegraph today report that Monkeypox IS the virus of Small pox family. What authority do you have?

        Replying to @sabaone @BennyGreaves and

They are from the same family. Along with cowpox and vaccinia (used to vaccine against smallpox). The family also contains chickenpox. Being from the same family does not mean same virus. Human belong in the same family than all great apes.

Monkeypox is a rare viral zoonotic disease that occurs primarily in remote parts of central and west Africa, near tropical rainforests. ... Although monkeypox is much milder than smallpox, it can be fatal... I just copy pasted 😂😂😂😂
