They do way more homework than I did at school, & they're under way more pressure. Then they're told it's been dumbed down. Much more homework, but system isn't improving by international standards. And in the workplace, very long hours, low productivity. Coincidence?

It doesn't make me cry. Nor my kids. But we're all different: hope you feel better soon.

homework and tests are pointless, basically forces the person to learn in a guided way, rote learning is a total waste of time, associative or meaningful learning is more effective LOL
-
Education teaches you how to analyse information and apply the results that your efforts tell you are correct. Education teaches you where to find the information you need, then how to use it once you have retrieved it.
-
that's funny, many phd data scientists spend their entire lives in academia and yet struggle to even google for datasets, and require hand holding for literally everything, they must have really learned a lot I imagine, no wonder google had to create a dataset search for them LOL
-
It is perfectly true that there are academics to whom the theory of their research is more relevant than the results. There is a place in society for them, as long as they realise that life does not take them as seriously as they take themselves.

Teaching to the test is abuse of children. The point of childhood is to receive an education, a well rounded understanding of your world before you take your place in society as an adult.
