        While this is all very noble. Who exactly is paying for it? I anticipate a return to the 3 day week, refuse piling up in the streets, and regular power cuts. Just like the last time labour (not new labour) were in power.

        Position a child-minder in every maternity ward. As soon as the child is born it can be whisked off to a day care centre. Saves parental stress.
