Why is it significant that he wears a Turban, you fail to mention what the other two who have failed the drugs test happen to be wearing on their heads. What is the BBC trying to achieve by this? Can we really still be witnessing this kind of reporting? #whatthehellbbc

OK, I am really confused.... was his crime that he was found with "high levels" of a class A drug in his system (as were two of his colleagues) or is the issue that he wears a turban??? What kind of headline is that?

What are you so confused about? It seems to be a straightforward explanation.

Straightforward would be without bringing unnecessary details such as his religion in to it

I didn’t find it ‘confusing ‘ though, did you? I’m sure the poor chap in question will get a hard enough time from his family without having it pasted across the media too.

The confusing part is how a “respected” journalist feel it necessary to identify this government official as “turban wearing” only significant if you pushing an agenda..

If a white male guardsman were to fail a drugs test, would it make headline news on the BBC this this?

Or if there was a Jewish skull cap wearing Guardsman, no way would that be highlighted (rightly so) but then that needs to extend to everyone. Mentioning race, religion & appearance are totally irrelevant to what happened

Why did you mention his religion? soldier/guardsman would’ve sufficed. Would you even be reporting this if it was a white soldier/guardsman? Have you considered the consequences to the individual of signalling this to the less pleasant parts of Twitter?

Who are the other two? According to the report three guardsmen tested positive but you see fit to only name the one? Disgusting reporting.
