Why do you need a degree in it? Those that compete already don't have one.

Yeah and there are famous musicians that never studied a music related career. That doesn't make the music career less worth it. There are ways and ways of learning. You could play 16 hours a day and still never become pro because you are not learning properly
-
This isnt about the degree, its just another BBC gender politics injection. If this woman was an unwashed looking male teen wearing a Korn t-shirt, there wouldnt be a story here. But here we are.

Because there are people that want to pay £10,000 a year to do an esports degree

It’s not spending, it’s wasting three years whilst running up a 50,000K debt
-
Yes but if you get good at it and win tournaments you can make that back very quick
-
It's really nothing to do with playing, it's the business behind it. Did anyone commenting actually read the article?
-
Of course not, we have lives
-
Hehe and just enough time to make generalised comnents not connected to the article. Gotcha!

-
You’re starting to understand this Twitter thing!
-
Yep, my bad, i was reading the articles before commenting, haha what a naive loser I am
I'll get there one day.

A degree in Esports for someone looking to pursue a career in one of the fastest growing entertainment industries in the world makes a lot of sense.

And people wonder why university degrees are dismissed so easily by employers!
-
This is a hugely growing industry. Gaming is a bigger industry tham film or music. So surely this is exactly what we should be offering courses in. Far more relevant than many other degrees, even traditional ones.
-
Still sounds like a 'Marketing Degree' to me. You are right though, it is a huge industry but I believe the money is to be made in design development of a game. Amazing graphics and interplay these days.
-
Yep it prob doesn't really have right name, it looks like a Business/Marketing degree specialising in eSports. Think there's money to be made from many aspects of it, just the same way there is in film and music and we do have a fantastic game development industry here in UK.
