Yes, it's too expensive and ticketing is too complicated, but rail travel is now far better than under British Rail. Why not regulate to improve the service instead?

A step back into the past with the Unions holding Rail Passengers to ransom, major under-investment etc - been there, done that and if you Socialists still haven’t figured out it DIDNT WORK, you have bigger problems than I thought!

People conveniently forget the recession we had under the Labour government. It’s all well and good promising the world, but Labour haven’t a clue about economics. Their fantasies aren’t sustainable.

It is not just the train companies causing all the problems. Decades of under investment on the rail infrastructure by Network Rail under Tory and Labour governments has caused a lot of the issues, even the unions cause problems. Are you going to fix all of this? Doubtful.

And of course you lose the premium payments by the TOCs to the Government for running services. That will be £2bn pa by 2020 that will be lost to the network. TOC profit margins are just 2-3%. Supermarkets work on 6%. #Labour are populists with fantasy economics.

Nothing new there then just the same old leftist solutions. Do I trust a labour government to make a better fist of running the railways ? No . Stiffer penalties for underperforming companies might help focus their attention.
